HLB McKeogh Gallagher Ryan together with our colleagues in HLB Sheehan Quinn and HLB Ryan & Co entered a HLB Ireland team in the annual HLB International Five-A-Side Soccer tournament which was held in Goals Soccer Academy in Wembley, London on September 13th.

The young and somewhat inexperienced team finished a gallant 9th (out of 10 teams) managing to progress one step further than in last year’s tournament. The group consisted of UK 2, Denmark 1, Denmark 2 & the Netherlands. Denmark 2 and UK 2 were the eventual finalists with Denmark 2 claiming the grand prize. HLB Ireland began all our games with a strong start, including being 2-0 up at half time against the eventual winners. Unfortunately we couldn’t recover from three defeats to UK 2, Denmark 2 & the Netherlands. Drawing with Denmark 1. & comprehensively defeating Belgium, with McKeogh Gallagher Ryan’s Paul O’Carroll placing on the scoring sheet, ensured we weren’t crowned with the wooden spoon.
The very enjoyable and well-organised tournament was was followed by a presentation with a meal and drinks in Frankie’s Bar on the grounds of Stanford Bridge (the home of Chelsea football club.
